Man United captain Harry Maguire booed at every touch as Red Devils win again

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United continues to roll in pre-season after the Red Devils dispatched fellow Premier League outfit Crystal Palace at Melbourne Cricket Ground during their tour of Australia.

Goals from Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho put United well and truly clear over Patrick Vieira’s Eagles before right-back Joel Ward helped keep the scoreline respectable, with Martial once again drawing the plaudits for his form over the last three matches.

But one United player who has fallen far down the queue in the minds of many is club captain Harry Maguire.

The England international once again started in the heart of the defense alongside Swedish center-back Victor Lindelöf, but as reported by Mail Online correspondent Chris Wheeler, Maguire was the subject of constant targeted booing for the duration of his 65-minute outing.

While it would be entirely normal for the negative reception to be levied by Palace fans, Wheeler made it clear to mention that the boos came from United supporters instead at every single opportunity.

It was yet another reminder of just how far Maguire’s stock has fallen since his arrival from Leicester City in 2019 after being a rock at the back for both the Foxes as well as Hull City before that.

Should his level of play be below the standard that Ten Hag will unquestionably demand, the England stalwart would be on his way out of Old Trafford sooner rather than later, which, by the looks of things, most fans would surely welcome.
