Celtic vs Motherwell match preview

Will Celtic’s ridiculous winning streak continue?

Last Sunday, the Hoops swatted aside Kilmarnock 4-1 at Rugby Park, with all of the visitors’ goals coming in the first 27 minutes.

Kyōgo Furuhashi broke the deadlock, before latter thwacking the post from the a penalty spot, with Daizen Maeda heading home a second before Matt O’Riley bagged a quick-fire brace.

This leaves the Celts 12 points clear of Rangers at the top of the table and, given that there are only six games remaining, the title is all but secured.

Ange Postecoglou’s team have now won 17 successive matches in all competitions, eight victories short of the club record set under Jock Stein, a record that could be matched by the end of season.

The Hoops have now scored 102 goals in the Premiership this season, with the club record 116 goals, set in the 1915/16 campaign.

As for the visitors, they’ve seen a huge upturn in form under Stuart Kettlewell, with the new manager winning five of his first seven matches in charge.

Last weekend, the Steelmen suffered their first real set back under Kettlewell, beaten 2-1 by Dundee United at Fir Park, despite taking the lead through an in form Kevin van Veen.

Nevertheless, those recent wins leave the Well eighth, eight points clear of the drop zone.

Motherwell haven’t won at Parkhead since 2015, with that fact unlikely to change here.
