Manchester United unwilling to pay €75m price for De Gea replacement

Manchester United have identified a David de Gea replacement but the price-tag is proving an issue.

David de Gea has been a mainstay in United’s side for many years and recently entered the Red Devils’ top-10 list for most appearances.

However, De Gea is not good with the ball at his feet and as Erik ten Hag prefers to play out from the back, it would make sense to sign a new shot-stopper who is good on the ball.

One of the players being looked at by United is FC Porto’s, Diogo Costa.

Costa has been an impressive performer for Porto this past season and it is no surprise that the top clubs across Europe are keeping tabs on him.

However, according to A Bola, Erik ten Hag wants to find a goalkeeper to challenge the Spaniard and has identified Porto’s Diogo Costa but the Manchester club are not willing to pay the €75m valuation of the 23-year-old and are trying to lower that price.

For context on that fee, the current transfer record for a keeper is the £71m Chelsea paid for Kepa, with Alisson’s £65m fee for Liverpool taking second place on the list.
