Tottenham & Newcastle handed hope as summer target yet to decide future

An update on the future of in-demand Eintracht Frankfurt star Daichi Kamada has been forthcoming on Friday evening.

For those not aware, Kamada is a gifted attacking midfielder, enjoying another fine campaign in Germany to date.

After catching the eye in guiding Eintracht to surprise glory in the Europa League last season, the 26-year-old has since followed up with a head-turning haul of 13 goals and 4 assists this time round.

In turn, it has come as little surprise to hear of interest in his services beginning to mount with a view to the summer transfer window.

Kamada’s current terms at Deutsche Bank Park are due to come to an end upon the close of the campaign, with the Japanese international, to date, having showcased little desire to renew his deal.

A whole host of clubs from across the continent are therefore understood to be keen to take advantage of the situation, to bring the former Sagan Tosu standout in as a free agent ahead of next season.

As a result, it came as a blow to such clubs earlier this week, when word began to emerge from Germany that, in fact, Kamada was on the verge of committing to a pre-contract agreement elsewhere.

The outfit in question? Borussia Dortmund.

BVB have long been tipped as one of the frontrunners for the versatile midfielder’s signature, meaning suggestions that they had won the race for his talents did not come as a major surprise.

If the latest update on the situation to have surfaced late on Friday is anything to go by, however, then Kamada’s other suitors need not give up complete hope just yet.

As per the reliable Florian Plettenburg, the 26-time capped international did indeed enjoy a ‘good meeting’ with the transfer chiefs at Signal Iduna Park on Wednesday, during which a five-year deal worth €5 million-per-year was tabled.

However, crucially, it is also assured that ‘no agreement’ was reached.

With offers also on the table by way of the Premier League, Kamada’s future is therefore viewed as remaining in the balance with a view to the summer.
