German giants Bayern Munich have finally made a play at Tottenham Hotspur star and England leading light Harry Kane after the Bavarians lodged a formal bid for the 29-year-old earlier this afternoon.
As expected, club chairman Daniel Levy immediately rebuffed the €70 million plus add-ons levied by Thomas Tuchel’s outfit, with Levy adamant that Kane will be at the club in 2023-24 while holding firm surrounding the figure (at least £100m) that it would take for Spurs to even remotely entertain the possibility of losing their brightest talent.
But a possible twist could yet to be negotiated after reports from The Athletic’s David Ornstein and Charlie Eccleshare suggest that Kane himself could be open to leaving Tottenham.
All starting to feel a lot like 2021. A big club wants Kane, he’s open to the move, but unless they put in an offer that Spurs simply can’t turn down then it won’t happen.

Despite a deep connection to Tottenham, a continued lack of an ability to challenge for major honors and the continued managerial merry-go-round could certainly have been more than enough reason for Kane to be open to the move after it has been highlighted that there would be little-to-no stumbling block on a pathway to agreeing to personal terms with Bayern.
However, it remains unlikely that Levy will be open to seeing his star man walk this summer before new boss Ange Postecoglou has gotten a chance to work with Kane on and off the pitch, while the club head appears to be far more consigned to seeing Kane walk away for nothing next summer should he remain at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and wholly unconvinced after his final season.
Bayern no doubt views Kane as an ideal replacement for Robert Lewandowski after watching the Polish legend move to Barcelona last summer before failing to bring in suitable reinforcements and instead relying on a mix of Sadio Mané and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.
While it is still early to tell if Bayern can successfully talk Levy down from his position, news that Kane would be open to a departure would hardly be a question that Levy and Postecoglou would have wanted to answer this summer.
