Tottenham plotting £50m move for another Manchester United star as Maguire interest cools

The Lilywhites could be ready to splash the cash to revive his career

Tottenham are plotting an audacious bid for Manchester United talent Jadon Sancho in a bid to rejuvenate his stagnating career in England.

The Lilywhites are looking for fresh attacking talent under new boss Ange Postecoglu, and have identified Sancho as a potential option to do so along with compatriot James Maddison, though they face competition from Newcastle for the relegated Leicester City star.

Sancho has endured a tough time in England since his high-profile return to Manchester in 2021, and is no longer a guaranteed starter for either club or country. The 23-year-old started 21 times in the Premier League, and was sent away midway through the season in a bid to improve his physical and mental health.

With just 12 goals and 6 assists in 79 appearances since his arrival at Old Trafford, however, he has failed to live up to his hefty price tag and reports last month suggested that Ten Hag could be losing patience with the Englishman, who has not been in a national team squad since October 2021.

It is a situation that other clubs are thought to be keeping tabs on, and the Daily Star report that Tottenham are weighing up a £50m move for the winger, in the hope that a fresh start could see him discover the talent that he discovered at Borussia Dortmund before his move to England.

However, they add that the Red Devils would look for closer to £60m to be convinced to sell Sancho, with the winger still under contract at Old Trafford until 2026 with an option for a further year.
