Bayern Munich sack Julian Nagelsmann with former Chelsea boss set to take the wheel

*Update at bottom of article*

A major shake-up on the bench has been touted at German heavyweights Bayern Munich late on Thursday.

This comes amid claims that the Bavarians’ current head coach – Julian Nagelsmann – is under serious threat of being sent on his way.

For those not aware, Bayern are fresh off a damaging result at the weekend, as a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen saw them ousted from the summit of the Bundesliga table by Klassiker rivals Borussia Dortmund.

Increasingly frustrated by what they have witnessed of late, the powers that be at the Allianz Arena, in turn, are giving genuine consideration to the immediate sacking of boss Nagelsmann.

As per a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano:

Not only that, but Nagelsmann’s successor, too, is already understood to have been lined up.

Despite recent links with the soon-to-be vacant post at Tottenham Hotspur, former Chelsea and Dortmund headmaster Thomas Tuchel is viewed as the clear front-runner to take up the reins at the Allianz Arena with a view to the season run-in.

*Update* – News of both Nagelsmann’s sacking, and the ensuing appointment of Tuchel as his successor, have since been confirmed by widespread sources across the continent.

An official announcement is expected imminently.
