PSG suffer positive Covid-19 case ahead of Bayern Munich quarter final tie

PSG embarrassment

PSG went through the worst preparation possible for their Champions League tie against Bayern Munich after losing the top of the table clash with Lille, putting them three points behind the shock title challengers.

A single goal from Jonathan David in the 20th minute was enough to send them clear at the top.

Neymar was also sent off during the match for a second yellow card. His first was given after putting his hand in the face of Andre – it could have arguably been a red card itself.

He was shown is marching orders in the 89th minute after a tussle with Tiago Djalo in which he pushed the Lille defender to the floor off the ball in frustration.

Florenzi out

Whilst Neymar will be available for the match against Bayern Munich in midweek because suspensions only count towards League and Cup domestic fixtures, the French capital club will be without a key figure due to a coronavirus positive test.

The on-loan Italian full-back Alessandro Florenzi has tested positive for Covid-19 and will now self-isolate.

The 30-year-old was not in the line-up for the match with Lille with the Parisians setting up with four typical centre-haves in the back line. Thilo Kehrer and Abdou Diallo played right and left-back with the more natural but less experienced Mitchel Bakker and Colin Dagba on the bench.

Bayern’s wide areas of Serge Gnabry, Leroy Sane and Kingsley Coman could have a field day against the unorthodox choices should Mauricio Pochettino decide the persist with the strange back four.

PSG take on Bayern on Wednesday at 8:00pm in what is a rematch from the 2020 Champions League final in which the German side came out victorious.
