Arsenal transfer budget update points towards further summer signings

An insight into Arsenal’s plans for the remainder of the summer transfer window has been provided on Tuesday.

Arsenal have had a fairly active summer window to date. They have signed Gabriel Jesus and Oleksandr Zinchenko from Manchester City. Elsewhere, they landed Fabio Vieira from FC Porto, Matt Turner from New England and Marquinhos from Sao Paulo.

All told, said signings set Arsenal back around £119 – using prices from Transfermarket.

However, despite a very healthy summer spend to date, it appears Arsenal could still be set to bring in one or two new faces.

According to the Evening Standard: “Arsenal are looking to continue their transfer business and potentially even break the £200million barrier this summer.”

This suggests that Arsenal are still looking to spend a further £80m or so in the next month.

An inishgt into where that money could be spent has been provided as well, with the ES reporting that a new midfielder seems to be on Mikel Arteta’s radar, with Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Youri Tielemans, Arthur and Lucas Paqueta all targets.

Lyon recruitment chief Cheyrou recently suggested that the French outfit could be open to selling Paqueta this summer.

Cheyrou said: “We need to reduce the squad size. In terms of departures, we will analyse offers on a case-by-case basis but the economics will come into consideration. We will consider the offers with Jean-Michel Aulas and Vincent Ponsot in order to make the best decisions.”

And when asked whether Paqueta specifically would be allowed to leave, Cheyrou responded: “We are prepared for every eventuality.”
