Brighton star arrested amidst sexual assault claim in seafront nightclub

Sexual assault rampant in the Premier League

Sexual crime, or perhaps the reporting of sexual crimes, is sickeningly seemingly on the up this year, with three Premier league players now accused since the beginning of the season.

Benjamin Mendy, of course, is the most high-profile of these, due to stand trial in January for four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

Meanwhile, Everton were forced to suspend one member of their squad, a man in his 30s, due to child sex offences, with a statement on their club website confirming:

Everton can confirm it has suspended a First-Team player pending a police investigation. The Club will continue to support the authorities with their inquiries and will not be making any further statement at this time.

Sadly, this did not prove the last story in a concerning trend.

Brighton player latest to be accused

In a shocking report, it now seems that a Brighton star has been arrested “on suspicion” of sexual assault. The act happened inside Arch nightclub, and the player is now in police custody, report the Mirror.

The alleged act took place in a nightclub on the seafront in the early hours of Wednesday morning, although the player cannot be named for legal reasons.

In a press release, Sussex police also confirmed that the player, in his 20s, was not alone, with another man in his 40s too arrested in the early hours.

In a statement released by the club, Brighton said:

“Brighton and Hove Albion are aware that one of its players is assisting police with the investigation of an alleged offence.

“The matter is subject to a legal process and the club is therefore unable to make further comment at this time.”

With such despicable acts (if true) continuing to occur and be unearthed on the part of Premier League superstars, where will the line finally be drawn?
