Crystal Palace vs Everton match preview

Will the Roy Hodgson revolution continue at Crystal Palace?

Last weekend, the Eagles won again, this time beating Southampton 2-0 at St Mary’s, thanks to a pair of Eberechi Eze thunderbolts.

So, since Hodgson’s reappointment as manager, Palace have won all three matches, beating Leicester in the last minute before putting five past Leeds at Elland Road.

Ironically, this has moved them from 12th all the way up to 12th…. although they now boast a nine points cushion over the drop zone.

So, will the Eagles win four consecutive Premier League games for the first time since June 2020?

Everton simply cannot allow that to happen, having suffered a damaging 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Fulham a week ago.

On the road, the Toffees have won just one of their last 17 Premier League fixtures, this a 2-1 victory at bottom of the table Southampton on 1 October.

Also, the Blues have lost their last two outings at Selhurst Park, most-recently smashed 4-0 in the FA Cup quarter-finals 13 month ago.

So, a home win seems very likely in South London.

Crystal Palace team news

After three successive wins, there’s little reason for Roy Hodgson to change anything.

Sam Johnstone will continue in goal as Vicente Guaita is injured.

More pertinently, Wilfried Zaha has missed the last two games, but this has seemingly freed up both Michael Olise and Eberechi Eze.

Cheick Doucouré would be suspended for Palace’s next two games, Wolves (A) and West Ham (H), if booked.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Johnstone; Ward, Andersen, Guéhi, Mitchell; Doucouré, Eze, Schlupp; Olise, Ayew, Édouard.

Everton team news

Everton are very short of midfielders right now, with this the last of Abdoulaye Doucouré’s three-match ban, while Amadou Onana is injured.

So James Garner, who made his full Premier League debut a week ago, will continue to partner Idrissa Gana Gueye.

With both Nathan Patterson and captain Séamus Coleman out, Ben Godfrey started at right-back against Fulham, with Vitalii Mykolenko returning on the left.

Neal Maupay started for the first time since 1 March last weekend but did not impress, so Ellis Simms is set to return here.

Predicted XI (4-5-1): Pickford; Godfrey, Tarkowski, Keane, Mykolenko; Gana Gueye, Garner, Iwobi, McNeil, Gray; Simms.
