Leicester boss Rodgers admits Chelsea target Wesley Fofana could be dropped

The Northern Irishman has reiterated the need for Fofana to be in ‘the right mindset’

Leicester City head coach Brendan Rodgers has, on Thursday, provided a fresh insight into the future of star defender Wesley Fofana.

The name of Frenchman Fofana has, of course, taken its place front and centre in the headlines for several weeks now.

This comes with the 21-year-old having been identified as a prime target on the part of Premier League rivals Chelsea.

Amid the ongoing efforts of the transfer team at Stamford Bridge to rejuvenate the heart of Thomas Tuchel’s backline, Fofana is viewed as an ideal solution for not only the present, but the years to come, too.

Despite the best efforts of the Blues to strike a deal, though, Leicester, thus far, have remained firm in their stance that the club’s defensive stalwart is simply not for sale.

Nevertheless, speaking to the media on Thursday, it came as little surprise when the subject of Fofana’s future was put to Brendan Rodgers once more.

And, to begun, the Leicester boss was keen to highlight that Chelsea, as of yet, have not returned with a 2nd offer.

Perhaps even more noteworthy, though, was an insight into Rodgers’ plans for Fofana.

This came as the Northern Irishman confirmed that, should the former Saint-Etienne talent not be ‘in the right mindset’ to feature in the Foxes’ meeting with Southampton this weekend, he could well be banished to the stands:
