Casemiro ‘inclined to accept’ Manchester United offer as price tag set for the Brazilian

The Red Devils remain keen on the Real Madrid midfielder

Brazilian midfielder Casemiro has been given the final say on his future by Real Madrid amid interest from Manchester United, with the 30 year-old inclined to accept the Red Devils’ offer, according to reports.

Manchester United have switched their focus to Casemiro after being left high-and-dry following their summer-long pursuit of Frenkie de Jong, and believe that a deal could be done.

Erik ten Hag’s side are in desperate need for reinforcements, and are seemingly willing to throw money at the problem having lost their opening two games of the season in embarrassing fashion to Brighton and Brentford.

As per Spanish outlet Relevo, Los Blancos have told Casemiro that the final decision rests with him, and the Brazilian is ‘inclined to accept the proposal from Manchester United’ this summer, in what could become the Red Devils’ fourth signing of the summer.

Price could be an issue, however. So far, Manchester United have offered 60m euros, while Real Madrid are holding out for 80m euros, leaving a likely compromise at around 70m euros (£59m).

Should this be agreed, and reports that the Red Devils are willing to double Casemiro’s salary prove true, the deal could progress quickly.

Plenty more to come from Manchester United

There are few players in world football that Erik ten Hag’s side have not been linked with in recent days, but they remain very much active in the transfer market this summer.

The club are in the hunt for another right back, with the likes of Sergino Dest and Thomas Meunier both having been mentioned as potential incomings at Old Trafford. They are also looking to add another forward or two, while a backup goalkeeper is also in the works, with Asmir Begovic and Yann Sommer both having been mentioned.

It is sure to be a frenetic end to the transfer window at Old Trafford.
