One in, one pending, as AC Milan moves to replace Sandro Tonali

A confirmed deal for Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek could quickly be followed up with a move for Valencia’s Yunus Musah as Milan look to retool the center of the park in the wake of Tonali’s surprise move to St. James’ Park

Serie A giants AC Milan have moved quickly to fill the void left in the wake of Sandro Tonali’s departure to Newcastle and look on track to complete not one, but two midfield signings to add depth and quality to the center of the park at the San Siro.

Football insider Fabrizio Romano confirmed existing reports that Milan has secured Chelsea’s Ruben Loftus-Cheek in a move that will see the Blues recoup £17m in pure profit for the Cobham Academy graduate as part of the club’s efforts to move forward after Tonali’s £50m move to Tyneside.

But the Lombardy-based side has not stopped there this summer when it comes to adding further options in the center of the park after reports from Matteo Moretto suggest that the 19-time Scudetto winners are also closing on a deal for Valencia’s Yunus Musah.

Musah, who has been linked with a host of clubs in the wake of a sensational 2022 World Cup with the United States that saw him become one of the standout performers under Gregg Berhalter, is available this summer for a figure in the same ballpark as Loftus-Cheek.

Moretto reported that Musah has already agreed to personal terms with Milan, with both clubs now needing to agree on a financial package that could see the New York City-born midfielder make a huge step in his own career in conjunction with his growing importance in the international stage with the USMNT.
