Barcelona express interest in Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich

The 28-year-old German international remains vital for the Bundesliga giants as the club moves forward under Thomas Tuchel, but Barça boss Xavi intends to pounce if any inkling of interest bubbles to the surface

German giants Bayern Munich move into the summer transfer window under Thomas Tuchel with a number of questions that need answering at the Allianz Arena in the wake of a 2022-23 campaign both at home and abroad that nearly ended in disaster.

After crashing out of both the Champions League and the DFB-Pokal under Tuchel, a man that was brought in to shockingly replace Julian Nagelsmann, Bayern still managed to narrowly secure their 11th consecutive league title on the final day after Borussia Dortmund failed to secure three points at home to end Bayern’s dominance even temporarily.

But internal strife that has managed to grip the club may cause Bayern to lose a number of players this summer, with the likes of Leon Goretzka and Lucas Hernández potentially departing. Another name that could be of transfer interest is German star, Joshua Kimmich.

Previous murmurings surrounding the player and potential frustration at how events unfolded this season could leave scope to suggest that, despite Bayern’s insistence that he is not for sale, Kimmich could consider a possible exit.

With that in mind, Barça boss Xavi has made public his desire to make a play at the star central midfielder should the door ever be swung open.

“If there is an open door, there will be negotiations with Bayern. It is clear that we need a player of a very high level in this position, otherwise it will be very difficult to keep up next year.”
