monarch and legendary Premier League manager Sir Alex Ferguson is set to keep the faith in one of his former charges in Ole Gunnar Solskjær after the Norwegian presided over the 5-0 thrashing perpetrated by Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday evening.

According to Fabrizio Romano, SAF is pard of the main body of the Man United board that continue to back Solskjær despite the massively disappointing result at the weekend.

Sir Alex and others are prepared to give Solskjær another chance to set things right this season when the Red Devils clash with Nuno Espírito Santo’s topsy-turvy Tottenham in Saturday’s late fixture in London at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

It can be postulated that, should United fail to pick up the full three points on their travels at the weekend, that any remaining grace that has been bestowed upon Solskjær will have been exhausted as the former Red Devil’s striker is already teetering on the brink of personal disaster.

Man United struggling despite massive summer recruitment drive

The age-old adage of “it’s not what you know, it’s who you know” can easily be tapered to Man United’s current reality under Ole Gunnar Solskjær to “it’s not what you have, it’s who is leading it.”

Despite the club’s massive recruitment drive in name – not so much in number – when United brought in Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho, and Raphaël Varane for a combined ~£120million this summer, the remit was clear; challenge Manchester City for the Premier League title.

Thus far United have utterly failed in that task under Solskjær, while Chelsea are currently sitting top of the table with City and Liverpool close in tow.

Instead, the Red Devils sit seventh and are already at least six points adrift of their chief domestic rivals while the likes of West Ham and Brighton are ahead despite having lesser squads but clearly more capable managers at the helm.

With all roads pointing to the fact that the players have all but given up on Solskjær this season and links with Antonio Conte being touted as his eventual – if not inevitable – replacement, time is running out and the hour glass could run empty after this coming weekend.
