Motherwell vs Queen’s Park match preview

Having picked up five points from two matches on the road so far this week, will Motherwell book their place in the knockout stages by claiming victory in their first home match of the season?

Last weekend, goals from 16 year old Lennon Miller and then Jonathan Obika saw the Steelmen beat Elgin City 2-0 at Borough Briggs.

Then, on Tuesday, the Well played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with Queen of the South at Palmerston Park, in which Blair Spittal bagged a brace, while Callum Slattery was also on target.

Stuart Kettlewell’s team then managed to leave Dumfries with the bonus point, prevailing 5-4 in the subsequent shootout.

So now, with two home games to go, also set to host East Fife this time next week, Motherwell are in a commanding position as they seek to top Group G.

Queen’s Park meanwhile have only been in action once so far but this resulted in a defeat, playing out a goalless draw with East Fife last Saturday, before losing the shootout 4-2 at Bayview.

Thus, a Motherwell win seems likely at Fir Park.
