Brentford vs Bournemouth match preview

Will Brentford’s unbeaten start to the season continue?

So far, Thomas Frank’s team have five points on the board, drawing both home matches, while also hammering West London rivals Fulham 3-0 at Craven Cottage in-between.

Last weekend, the Bees took the lead through Kevin Schade’s stunning solo effort, only for Crystal Palace to equalise towards the end.

In contrast, AFC Bournemouth are still seeking to claim their first victory of the campaign.

Andoni Iraola’s first game in charge yielded a 1-1 draw with West Ham, but the Cherries have suffered back-to-back defeats subsequently, defeated 3-1 at Anfield, before a 2-0 reverse against Tottenham a week ago.

Coming up after this trip to the capital, Bournemouth’s next three fixtures are Chelsea (H), Brighton (A) and Arsenal (H), so their wait for a victory could go on for some time.

Bournemouth were involved in a five-goal thriller, ousting Swansea City 3-2, with David Brooks and Hamed Traorè on target, before Ryan Christine snatched a stoppage time winner.

50 miles east, Brentford required a penalty shootout to overcome Newport County, taking the lead through Mathias Jensen before conceding a 96th minute equaliser at Rodney Parade.

Nevertheless, the Bees actually prevailed 3-0 in the shootout, with Newport failing to convert any of their spot-kicks, while Bryan Mbeumo, Yoane Wissa and Keane Lewis-Potter all held their nerve.

Looking ahead to this clash, Bournemouth are winless in ten visits to Brentford, dating back to 2005, so a home win at the Community Stadium seems the most-likely outcome.

Brentford team news

Thomas Frank made wholesale changes on Tuesday, including the return of Ben Mee, who lasted 72 minutes, featuring for the first time this season.

Kevin Schade’s stunning opener against Crystal Palace, his first for the club, will see him keep his place in attack.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Flekken; Hickey, Pinnock, Collins, Henry; Jensen, Janelt, Nørgaard; Mbeumo, Wissa, Schade.

Bournemouth team news

New signings Tyler Adams and Alex Scott both remain sidelined, with both hoping to debut in the not too distant future.

Centre-back Marcos Senesi sat out last weekend’s defeat to Spurs, making him a doubt for this one, but Justin Kluivert could keep his place out-wide.

Predicted XI (4-3-3): Neto; Aarons, Zabarnyi, Kelly, Kerkez; Rothwell, Billing, Christie; Semenyo, Kluivert, Solanke.
