Summer transfer queue forms for veteran Brazilian winger Willian

The 34-year-old returned to the top flight of English football last season after a one-year hiatus back in his native Brazil with domestic giants Corinthians after a torrid spell at Arsenal in the wake of seven successful seasons with Chelsea.

After a very credible 2022-23 Premier League campaign at an over-achieving Fulham under Marco Silva, free-agent veteran winger Willian will have offers on the table this summer as a summer transfer queue forms for the former Chelsea and Arsenal forward.

The 34-year-old returned to the top flight of English football last season after a one-year hiatus back in his native Brazil with domestic giants Corinthians after a torrid spell at Arsenal in the wake of seven successful seasons with Chelsea. His one-year spell at Craven Cottage was largely heralded by Fulham supporters after he bagged five league goals in twenty-seven appearances as one of Silva’s most trusted on-field lieutenants.

Now a free agent, Willian will be somewhat spoilt for choice this summer after both Fulham and Nottingham Forest have dispatched contract proposals to the former international, but will reportedly face opposition from a number of clubs from the Roshn Saudi League according to football insider Fabrizio Romano.

While it remains unclear which clubs are interested in the Ribeirão Pires-born versatile attacking outlet, one can assume it will likely involve one, or all, of the nation’s big four; Al-Hilal, Al-Ittihad, Al-Nassr, and Al-Ahli.

It is expected that Willian will have a decision made on the next port of call of his career within the coming days but after Fulham was unable to see the return of Israeli international Manor Solomon on a full deal after his decision to join Tottenham Hotspur, a Premier League return could certainly seem viable despite the wealth of riches that would surely await in the Gulf kingdom.
