Manchester United prepping contract talks with Tunisian starlet Hannibal Mejbri

The 20-year-old has been given a recent chance in the first team under Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag on the back of fitness and selection concerns in the northwest of England and looks to have done enough to secure a possible at the club

Premier League giants Manchester United are in the midst of ramping up into contract negotiations with youngster Hannibal Mejbri in a bid to nail down the Tunisian international starlet to a long-term extension at Old Trafford.

The 20-year-old has been given a recent chance in the first team under Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag on the back of fitness and selection concerns in the northwest of England and looks to have done enough to secure a possible at the club.

Per information relayed by football insider Fabrizio Romano, United plans to offer the Paris-born midfielder a new contract to upgrade on his current terms that see the player tied to the club to the end of the current 2023-24 season, which includes an option on one more year.

Mejbri is said to be focusing on his appearances on the pitch for the time being but has not ruled out opening discussions later on in the calendar year.

It is easy to suggest that such a willingness to discuss extending terms with the club will solely come down to whether his minutes increase or decrease when United is back to full strength in due course.

Currently, Mejbri has featured in each of United’s three recent fixtures, scoring in their 3-1 home loss to Brighton as a second-half substitute while also featuring in the matchday XI against both Burnley and Crystal Palace.

But Mejbri still has options on the table away from the Premier League side should he see fit, with La Liga outfit Sevilla said to be tracking him since the summer while still harboring an interest in the full Tunisian international.

Should a suitable situation elude the player, tapping into other pathways for regular senior football are sure to present themselves.
