Premier League outfit Crystal Palace are on the verge of closing a big-money deal for a highly-regarded up-and-coming Brazilian starlet, according to reports.
The player in question? Matheus França.
For those not familiar with his name, França is a 19-year-old Selecao youth international, who is currently plying his trade with the first-team setup at Brazilian giants Flamengo.
The youngster is an attacking midfielder by trade, but is also capable of lining out in either a more advanced 2nd striker role, or a more orthodox position in the middle of the park.
All told, across the season to date, França has taken to the pitch with Flamengo on 29 occasions.
On the international front, meanwhile, the technically-gifted midfielder has notched three appearances with Brazil’s U20 side.
Earlier this year, França appeared, for the time being at least, to have put the ongoing speculation surrounding his future to bed, after putting put to paper on a new long-term contract at the Maracana.
But, as alluded to above, this only proved telling in delaying the inevitable - a move to Europe.
As confirmed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Premier League outfit Crystal Palace have reached an agreement with their Flamengo counterparts, to bring França to Selhurst Park.
This comes after the Eagles hierarchy agreed to fork over a considerable €20 million fixed payment, backed by a further €10 million in potential add-ons.
Official documents, in turn, are currently in the process of being exchanged, ahead of the Brazilian prodigy flying out to undergo a medical in south London at some point over the coming week.
