Liverpool star in knee brace after Tottenham defeat

Liverpool head coach Jurgen Klopp has, late on Saturday, provided an update on the wellbeing of Cody Gakpo.

For those who may have missed it, this comes after the Dutchman set pulses racing across the Liverpool fanbase earlier this evening.

The Reds, of course, were back in action a short time ago, making the trip to north London for a Premier League showdown with Tottenham Hotspur.

When all was said and done, Klopp and co. saw a seven-game winning streak snapped, owing to a hugely controversial 2-1 defeat.

As alluded to above, though, the eventual result in England’s capital proved far from Liverpool’s only concern on Saturday.

In addition, they were dealt a blow on the personnel front.

After drawing his side level late in the first-half, Cody Gakpo quickly went to ground with what appeared to be a muscular problem.

From here, he was hauled off at the interval, replaced by the later-dismissed Diogo Jota.

Speaking to the media post-match, the subject of his versatile attacker’s wellbeing was therefore put to boss Jurgen Klopp.

And the German went on to reveal that Gakpo’s knee has been placed into a brace, ahead of a potential incoming spell on the sidelines.

“Possibly, I don’t know,” Klopp responded, when asked if the injury is a ‘bad one’.

“He wore a brace. He scored a goal but afterwards, but after that shot he felt it even more. It was from the foul before.”
