Everton provide injury updates on Ben Godfrey & Yerry Mina

The defenders look set for respective spells out of action

Premier League outfit Everton have, on Monday, provided updates on the fitness of a pair of members of Frank Lampard’s squad.

The Toffees, of course, kicked their campaign into gear this past weekend.

An eventual 1-0 defeat at the hands of Chelsea, though, ultimately proved the least of the Merseyside outfit’s concerns.

This came as Lampard and co. were forced to face up to not one, but two blows on the personnel front.

Both came amid the club’s defensive ranks, as, first, Ben Godfrey was stretchered from the pitch with what appeared to be a serious injury to his left leg.

Then, on the other side of the interval, it was the turn of Yerry Mina to set pulses racing across the Everton fanbase, after limping out of proceedings with an ankle issue.

And now, as alluded to above, an insight into the wellbeing of both players has been provided.

As per an official statement across the Blues’ website and social media platforms, Godfrey is set for a spell of three months in the sidelines, with a fractured fibula:

‘Ben Godfrey underwent successful surgery this morning on the fractured fibula he sustained during Saturday’s Premier League opener against Chelsea at Goodison Park.

‘The defender will now begin rehabilitation at Finch Farm under the care of the Club’s medical team and is expected to be out for around three months.’

Mina’s situation, on the other hand, is less clear, with the Colombian set to ‘see a specialist this week to discover the full extent of the problem’:

‘Meanwhile, Yerry Mina sustained an ankle ligament injury in the second half of Saturday’s match and will see a specialist this week to discover the full extent of the problem before undergoing treatment at Finch Farm.’
