Arsenal have cooled their interest in Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin as they begin to explore a deal for Serbian forward Luka Jovic, according to reports.
The Gunners are in desperate need of a striker in the summer, with both first-choice option Alexandre Lacazette and fringe option Eddie Nketiah out of contract at the end of the season and having not shown any intention of extending their deals in north London.
30-year-old Lacazette has scored just four times this season for the Gunners, though he has provided 7 assists. However, his last open play goal in the Premier League came against Southampton on December 12th, highlighting an area that the Gunners clearly need to upgrade upon this summer.
One such option to bolster Mikel Arteta's ranks was thought to be Dominic Calvert-Lewin, with the Everton forward a Premier League-proven goalscorer.
However, as per The Telegraph, Arsenal have cooled their interest in the Englishman as they look elsewhere for their new no.9, following a less than spectacular showing for Everton this season, during which injury has restricted him to just a handful of appearances.
Jovic moving back into the sights?
On the other hand, Real Madrid outcast Luka Jovic has reportedly moved back into the scope of Mikel Arteta and co., according to the Daily Express.
They reveal that 'Arsenal have reportedly renewed their interest in Real Madrid striker Luka Jovic' and that 'Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is claimed to be convinced that Jovic can be a 'goal machine' for his side.'
The Serbian would be a low cost but high-risk option to lead the Gunners line, but could well become a world-beater with the right support and training. Whether he will be leaving the Bernabeu this summer is another matter, however.
