Match preview

The Championship’s two draw specialists from the season to date are set to go head to head at Deepdale on Wednesday, October 4th.

The clash in question will see Preston North End play host to West Bromwich Albion.

Starting with the former, Preston marked their return to action on the back of the international break with a trip to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland at the weekend.

And, once more, the Lilywhites proved themselves an altogether tough nut to crack.

This means that, though they have tasted defeat on just a pair of occasions, Preston nevertheless sit just three points clear of the Championship’s relegation places.

And yet, this is three points more than their high-profile upcoming opponents have managed themselves.

West Brom have proven perhaps the biggest disappointment of the season to date in England’s 2nd tier, with just a solitary victory to their name thus far.

This came all the way back in August, courtesy of a 5-2 downing of Hull City, with the Baggies’ return to the pitch on Saturday having culminated in a morale-draining last-gasp defeat at the hands of Swansea City.

Like Preston, Steve Bruce’s men have stuttered to draws in seven of their fixtures thus far, sitting alongside Middlesbrough in joint-20th as a result.

The ongoing absence of key defender Semi Ajayi certainly does not help, and his predicted return to fitness later this month cannot come soon enough for an uncharacteristically shaky Baggies backline.

We at 101, in turn, predict Wednesday’s Deepdale clash to play out true to form, with Preston and West Brom ultimately walking away from proceedings with a point apiece.
