Juventus v Benfica betting tips: Champions League preview, prediction and odds

Match Preview

Juventus will be looking to recapture some winning form after the madness of the game Salernitana last weekend when the club thought they had won the game but were stunned with a late 94th-minute VAR call that sealed a draw in the game.

Juventus have struggled this season and the pressure is now mounting on manager Max Allegri. The club have so far decided to stick with the Italian, but if the Old Lady fails to win here, it could bring the end of his second spell at the club. What’s more, the draw with Salernitana now leaves the club with four draws from six games, which although keeps them unbeaten, it does also keep them in eighth.

Allegri’s side also lost to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League opener last week. Weston McKennie would score in the 2-1 loss, as a Kylian Mbappe-inspired first half gave Juventus little hope in getting all three points.

As for Benfica, they are coming into this one having won every game so far this season and looked completely unstoppable in the process. As of now, they’ve let in just three goals from six games in the Primeira Liga, while also winning all six and scored 14 times – only Braga and Porto have scored more.

Benfica also eased past Maccabi Haifa in the first game of the group stages of the Champions League, as Rafa Silva and Alex Grimaldo scored a goal each early on in the second half to keep up the winning form of the Portuguese giants.

It’ll be far from an easy game for the Turin side given the start they have had.
