Two sides in the thick of the battle for promotion from the Championship are primed to face off at Turf Moor on Saturday, October 15th.

The matchup in question will see Burnley play host to Swansea City, separated by just a solitary point in 4th and 5th in England’s 2nd tier.

Let’s begin by taking a closer look at the recent endeavours of the former.

Burnley, of course, were viewed as being amongst the promotion favourites ahead of the 2022/23 season getting underway, on the back of their long-term top-flight stay coming to a heartbreaking end last time out.

And the Clarets, in turn, have since looked predictably solid, if unspectacular.

On their way to a spot just two points adrift of table-topping Sheffield United, Vincent Kompany’s men have actually managed wins in just five of their 13 outings to date.

Crucially, though, they have too slipped to defeat just once, giving rise to a hefty seven single-point hauls.

Fresh off a concerning run of four such stalemates in five, Burnley did manage to return to winning ways last time out, but even this only came courtesy of a hard-fought 1-0 downing of Championship basement dwellers Coventry City.

And the Clarets will certainly have their work cut out for them if they hope to make it two wins on the spin this weekend.

Upcoming opponents Swansea are in much the better form of the two sides, fresh off a quartet of successive victories, and five from six.

The latest of these came last Saturday, at the expense of Sunderland.
