Match preview

Two sides separated by a hefty 22 places in the Championship table are set to lock horns at Ewood Park on Saturday, November 5th.

The clash in question will see promotion-chasing Blackburn Rovers play host to a Huddersfield Town outfit looking like early favourites for the drop.

Blackburn, of course, have proven one of the stories of the campaign to date in England’s 2nd tier.

This comes with the Lancashire-based side, after finishing in 8th last time out, having since kicked on in a major way to establish themselves in the thick of the battle for a top-flight berth.

Owing to a record of eleven wins, eight defeats and, remarkably, no draws, Jon Dahl Tomasson’s troops sit in 2nd in the Championship table, adrift of only Vincent Kompany’s rampant Burnley.

It must be noted, however, that Rovers are set to head into the latest round of fixtures from off a defeat last time out.

This comes after a solitary Jamie Allen effort proved enough to guide relegation-battling Coventry City to all three points at the expense of Tomasson and co.

Blackburn, though, will no doubt be confident in their chances of securing a swift return to winning ways.

This comes with Saturday’s hosts primed to face off with the Championship’s current basement dwellers next time out.

Huddersfield - after a minor upturn in form to the tune of four points from an available six - were brought crashing back down to earth last time out.

A midweek meeting with a Sunderland outfit not exactly in sparkling form themselves ultimately gave rise to a two-goal Black Cats triumph, owing to strikes from Alex Pritchard and Manchester United loanee Amad Diallo.

The Terriers, as a result, were leapfrogged by West Bromwich Albion, now bottom of the table, and a considerable five points from safety.

And we at 101 are only backing the woes of Mark Fotheringham’s troops to mount ever further this weekend.

This comes with Blackburn looking overwhelming favourites to ultimately emerge from Ewood Park with all three points on Saturday afternoon.
