Football fans across the world have reacted as Stoke City have announced the singing of Inter Milan midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri for a club record fee of £12million.
The Swiss superstar was pictured at the Britannia Stadium on Sunday during The Potters’ 1-0 defeat to Liverpool, and his appearance fueled rumours that the 23-year-old was closing in on a move to Stoke City.
Those rumours have now been confirmed as Xherdan Shaqiri has signed a five year deal with Mark Hughes’s side.
The signing of Shaqiri continues the trend of Mark Hughes signing big name players, and the club can now boast having five players who have Champions League winners medals. Those players include Shaqiri, former Barcelona stars Bojan, Ibrahim Affelay and Marc Muniesa and Marko Arnautović.
The recent signings at Stoke City have led to a greater interest in the football club from fans across the world, and by the reaction on Twitter this evening it is clear that supporters from all different clubs are quite excited about the developments at the Britannia Stadium.
Bojan, Afellay and Shaqiri all play for Stoke. What a time to be alive.

Incredible to see players like Cabaye, Shaqiri, Wijnaldum etc. signing for ‘smaller’ clubs.

Xherdan Shaqiri scored a goal, played a key pass or recorded an assist once every 24.9mins for Inter in Serie A last season.

If Shaqiri can’t beat Jonathan Walters into the staring XI God knows what happened to him

Shaqiri will inevitably play a blinder against Spurs this weekend, then disappear from view for the season. Seen it too many times…
