Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand makes new top four claim

Rio Ferdinand has been discussing who will finish in the Premier League’s top-four.

Despite being a Manchester United man, Rio Ferdinand has suggested that Liverpool could finish the season in the top-four.

Ferdinand told FIVE: “Nottingham Forest put them under it. “But Liverpool got through with it by hook or by crook. They could sneak into the top four, you know Liverpool.”

Whilst Liverpool fans will no doubt be pleased with Ferdinand’s assessment, it would still take something of a miracle for Liverpool to finish in the Champions League places this term.

Liverpool are currently sat 7th in the Premier League with 31 games played. The Reds are nine points adrift of both 3rd place Newcastle United and 4th place Manchester United.

But as Manchester United have a game in hand, Newcastle look to be Liverpool’s closest rivals.

Making up nine points in seven games is a major task for Liverpool, especially as they do not play Newcastle or Manchester United again this season.
