The future of some of the world’s top footballers has been of much debate throughout the season.

At one point, PSG forward and former Barcelona player Neymar was calling on Lionel Messi to join him in the French capital.

“What I want most of all is to play with Messi again, to be able to enjoy him once again on the pitch,” Neymar said after PSG’s 3-1 Champions League win against Manchester United in December.

“He can play in my place, I have no problem with that! But I want to play with him next year, for sure. We have to do it next season.”

However, it now appears that the tables have turned, with the Argentine linked with an extended contract in Catalonia and Neymar reported to be a target of the La Liga side.

Spanish radio RAC1 Claim that the 29-year-old is the club’s number one target this season and that also they may be able to get him for less than the offer previously rejected by PSG amounting to €130 million plus 3 players.

PSG have so far rejected all contacts from the club regarding Neymar, however, should the forward push for a move back to his old club it could change the situation dramatically.

How can Barca afford it?

It is well documented that Barcelona are in a considerable debt and with the collapse of the Super League proposals the idea of additional income dematerialised.

However, the club are set to receive a significant financial boost from a sponsorship deal they have secured.

Should this go through, an offer for Neymar could become very tempting for the French champions.
