Manchester United fans no longer have to wait for the club to get off the ground in the transfer market this summer, after the Red Devils sealed an agreement for Feyenoord's Tyrell Malacia this evening.

The 22-year-old Dutch international has agreed to terms with United ahead of a ~£15 million move to Old Trafford from the Eredivisie giants, but it is just the first of a flurry of moves expected for new club boss Erik ten Hag to push for in the coming days.

There are big expectations surrounding the new regime under the former AFC Ajax tactician for the 2022-23 Premier League season and beyond, and Ten Hag has now begun to flex his influence in Dutch footballing circles as the club are also intent on bringing in both Ajax center-back Lisandro Martínez and former Ajax star Frenkie de Jong.

As Ten Hag has begun to sink his teeth into the first-team setup at United after pre-season officially begun, it was only a matter of time before the Dutch tactician would zero in on precisely what he needed to guarantee that his system hits the ground running as soon as possible.

With United expecting an even larger clear-out than already occurred when Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matić, Jesse Lingard, and Juan Mata all left the club on free transfers, Ten Hag has thus far negotiated the market like a man with a plan when it comes to targeting new assets that he knows directly or by proxy.

Though players like Malacia may not be of the on-paper caliber that some United fans will have hoped for, deals for De Jong, Martínez, and potentially another former Ajax star in Christian Eriksen, unquestionably will move the needle.

Considering that United are less than a week away from leaving on their pre-season tour, Ten Hag's growing influence could well be felt a few more times in the coming days.
