Liverpool set out Joe Gomez contract stance
Liverpool have reportedly come to a decision on the future of English defender Joe Gomez, with the Liverpool Echo reporting that Jurgen Klopp and co will look to extend his contract this summer.
The defender suffered an ACL injury that ruled him out for the 2020-21 season alongside Virgil Van Dijk, and following the addition of Ibrahima Konate, Gomez has struggled to feature this season, making just 7 Premier League appearances, and a total of just 20 across all competitions in his new role as a backup to Trent Alexander-Arnold.
While he has been solid and dependable, it looks like a position that the Reds could look to improve upon, with Aberdeen fullback Calvin Ramsay reportedly catching the eye of the Merseyside club.

However, it seems as though they still have plans for Gomez, with reports that they will try to hand him a new contract, with his current deal expiring in 2024 as it stands.
‘Liverpool will look to tie Joe Gomez down to a new contract this summer despite ongoing speculation about his Reds future’, the Liverpool Echo claim.
‘Gomez remains part of Liverpool’s plans with Anfield sources revealing the club have tasked Julian Ward with looking to tie down the defender to a new deal this summer. However, they appreciate such a prospect could be easier said than done depending on how the defender views his own situation’.
Liverpool keep quadruple hopes alive
A nervous win, coming from 2-0 behind to win 3-2 on the night and 5-2 on aggregate against Villareal, saw Liverpool book their place in the Champions League final against Real Madrid in Paris at the end of May.
It keeps their hopes of an unprecedented quadruple, with Klopp’s side taking on Chelsea in the FA Cup final in a week’s time, while also trailing Manchester City by just three points in the Premier League with four games to go.
Should they manage to pull of the historical trophy haul, Gomez may decide that even with limited gametime, there is no better place to be than Anfield.
