Manchester United’s first game of the season sees them take on Brighton on Sunday the 7th of August.
United head into the game on the back of a positive pre-season. The Red Devils will be keen to avoid a repeat of the 4-0 drubbing they received at the hands of the Seagulls in their last meeting on May 7th.
Brighton, though, are no pushover and are expected to prove a stern test for Ten Hag in his first real taste of English football.
Ahead of the game, Erik ten Hag discussed a number of topics, including Cristiano Ronaldo, whose future has been called into question all summer long.
“I am really happy he is here. We have a top striker,” Ten Hag stated when asked about Ronaldo.
Elsewhere, Ten Hag confirmed that Anthony Martial will not be playing vs Brighton this weekend due to injury and he is not sure how long the Frenchman will be out for: “It’s always difficult to say, I hope not too long. I think we will have solutions to sort it out.”

But on a more positive note, Ten Hag stated that new signings Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez are fit to start for Man United on Sunday.
Ten Hag was then asked about Manchester United’s pursuit of Frenkie de Jong and gave a generic response: “I cannot comment on a player who is under contract at another club.”
