The German wunderkind is a prime transfer target for the Westfalenstadion outfit, who have already tabled a contract offer of 5-years with an annual financial package amounting to €5million as Die Schwarzgelben close in on a deal that would set the club back €35million for any deal to be completed.

But Barcelona look set to swoop in and try to steal a march on the Ruhr valley club and bring him to Catalunya on a full deal in January that would not include a loan-back clause with current club RB Salzburg as well as being able to offer a higher upfront free as well as a better wage packet for the German prodigy.

New boss Xavi is said to be a huge fan of Adeyemi, who he sees as a potential long-term piece of the puzzle at the Camp Nou as his regime at Barcelona gets underway.

Young core taking shape at the Camp Nou

Despite recent links to the likes of Edinson Cavani and Raheem Sterling, Barcelona are ramping up to establish an impressive young core for the future at the Camp Nou.

Past the breakout starlets such as Pedri, Gavi, and formerly Ansu Fati, Barça can boast quite a few players under the age of 23 that are primed for long-term influences in Catalonia.

Of the current first-team squad under Xavi’s command, fourteen players are 23 or younger. Names such as Yusuf Demir, Álex Collado, Riqui Puig, Nico González, Eric García, and Ronald Araújo ring true to this.

Should Barcelona add Karim Adeyemi to their ranks either in January or during the summer window, a new generation of success could be on the horizon for Barcelona’s young guns under a returning prodigal son.
