Gameweek 379: Sorare MLS top performers

LAFC’s return to MLS action did not go as planned over the weekend, as they returned from their Champions League exploits to pick up just one point from their two matches and remain three points adrift in the Western Conference of MLS.

St Louis remain top despite failing to beat struggling LA Galaxy, while Inter Miami’s first outing after the announcement of a deal to sign Lionel Messi ended in a heavy 3-1 defeat to New England in the Eastern Conference, where Cincinnati’s winning run came to an end but theyy maintained an eight point gap at the top.

Each week 101 Great Goals will look at the best performing players in each position in Sorare MLS to give you an insight into which players might be worth considering as we head into the next gameweek.

Goalkeeper

Luis Barraza – 81

New York City FC were held to a goalless draw to make it eight games without a win, but it was their second clean sheet on the bounce thanks to the excellence of goalkeeper Barraza. The 26-year-old made a string of fine saves with four in total, three of which came from inside the area with one of them a diving save and generally impressing in his presence around the goal to help earn another point for his side. It was the second impressive performance in a row from Barraza, who followed up last week’s 69 with an 81.

Barraza’s breakdown of Sorare points in the game was:

  • General: -3
  • Goalkeeping: 23.5
  • Possession: 0.8
  • Attack: 0
  • Decisive: 60

Defender

Micael – 100

After successive humbling defeats during which they conceded nine goals in total, it was a welcome return to form for Houston Dynamo with a 4-0 win over LAFC. Despite that, it was the performance of Micael that caught the eye with the defender making a goalline clearance to preserve the clean sheet for the hosts, earning him a perfect score in the process. The Brazilian was imperious at the back but also earned some big points in possession, completing 30 accurate passes – four of them were into the final third – to equate to a perfect overall score.

  • General: 12
  • Defence: 10.5
  • Possession: 22.4
  • Attack: 3.5

Midfielder

Carles Gil – 99

New England’s playmaker was at his best in the 3-1 win over Inter Miami, making it three impressive performances on the bounce. Following scores of 86 and 61, he produced a brilliant creative masterclass with one goal and two assists to beat the bottom club in the Eastern Conference. That took his tally to six goals and three assists for the season, and with 12 penalty area entries throughout the game his threat was clear for all to see, along with an L15 average rating of 68.

Gil’s breakdown of Sorare points in the game was:

  • General: 1.5
  • Defence: 1
