Gameweek 396: Sorare MLS top performers

Lionel Messi claimed the headlines again as Inter Miami crept past FC Dallas in the Leagues Cup thanks to another double strike from the Argentine World Cup-winner, including a late free-kick to help his side come from 4-2 down to draw 4-4 before advancing on penalties.

He now has seven goals and one assist in four games since joining the club, making him an immediate must-have for Sorare managers in MLS this season.

LAFC were big winners after recording a 7-1 win over Juarez – Denis Bouanga netted a second-half hat-trick – while as many as eight matches went to penalties, with seven matches still to play during the week.

Each week 101 Great Goals will look at the best performing players in each position in Sorare MLS to give you an insight into which players might be worth considering as we head into the next gameweek.

Goalkeeper

Esteban Andrada – 81

Monterrey kept a clean sheet in their 1-0 Leagues Cup win over Portland Timbers, with Andreda’s performance in goal playing a big part in that. The goalkeeper has been in brilliant form for his side in recent weeks with an L5 of 70, and the latest performance was one of his best. He made four saves in total – three of which came inside the area – and one diving save and one punch to boost his points total and give his side a crucial victory.

  • General: 0
  • Goalkeeping: 21.5
  • Possession: -0.2
  • Attack: 0
  • Decisive: 60

Defender

Andrew Brody – 99

Brody returned to the starting XI with a bang for Real Salt Lake, taking his chance to help his side record a 3-1 win over Leon and record a score of 99. He claimed an assist from left back to achieve his highest total of the season. He won four tackles in the course of the match to boost his defence stats but it was in possession where he really shone, completing 43 accurate passes and winning possession back eight times.

Brody’s breakdown of Sorare points in the game was:

  • General: 6
  • Defence: 8.5
  • Possession: 16.3
  • Attack: 8.5
  • Decisive: 60

Midfielder

Emanuel Reynoso – 100

Reynoso has been in brilliant form since returning from a long injury lay-off. After missing 15 matches, the midfielder – who often plays further forward – has only produced two scores lower than 66 and has three perfect scores in his last four matches, the most recent of which came in Minnesota’s win on penalties over Columbus Crew, in which he claimed an assist in the 3-3 draw. His creative presence was a key part of his big score.

Reynoso’s breakdown of Sorare points in the game was:

  • General: 11.5
  • Defence: 3
  • Possession: 14.2
  • Attack: 16.5
  • Decisive: 60

Forward

Lionel Messi – 100

Messi has taken to the MLS and life with Inter Miami like a duck to water. The former Barcelona and PSG forward is still somewhere near the peak of his powers and that has proved too much for defences, and a third successive brace for his side was enough to earn him another perfect score. He now has seven goals in four matches and one assist for his second perfect score in three games, and there is a sense that he could be consistently scoring between 80-100 for the rest of the season considering his style of play and enduring class.

Messi’s breakdown of Sorare points in the game was:

  • General: 1
  • Defence: 0
  • Possession: 7.8
  • Attack: 24
  • Decisive: 70
