St Johnstone vs St Mirren betting tips: Scottish Premiership preview, predictions and odds

[RECOMMENDED_BETS]

Earlier this season, these two played out back-to-back goalless draws before St Mirren won 2-1 as they met in Paisley. Since a run of five consecutive St Johnstone wins between 2014 and 2019, these two have met 11 times. These have produced two wins for Paisley Saints and three victories for Perth Saints, as well as six draws.

Under 2.5 goals is 2/5.

Under 2.5 goals and both teams to score NO is 8/11.

St Johnstone to win and under 2.5 goals is 3/1.

Match preview

With just four games to go, can St Johnstone climb out of the bottom two?

Last weekend, Callum Davidson’s men faced a crucial basement battle as they took on Dundee at Dens Park.

That was Rooney’s second goal of the season, both of which have come at Dens, the other in a League Cup quarter-final.

So, St Johnstone remain in the relegation play-off spot, five points clear of Dundee and five points adrift of guaranteed survival.

Their last four games will determine whether they’re staying up, going down or, what seems most likely, they’ll face a play-off on 20 & 23 May.

One of the teams they’re hoping to catch is St Mirren as their terrible form continues.

Last weekend, the Buddies conceded late so were beaten 1-0 by Hibernian at the Simple Digital Arena.

This means they’ve now lost four in a row and seven of eight matches since Stephen Robinson arrived in Paisley.

Their only victory in this time was a last-gasp 1-0 win over Dundee in early March, the side they meet again next Saturday.

Can St Johnstone close the gap to safety to just two points or will St Mirren pull clear of trouble at McDiarmid Park?

St Johnstone team news

David Wotherspoon and Chris Kane are long-term absentees but, aside from that, Callum Davidson has all of his key players fit an available.

Callum Hendry will continue to be partnered by Nadir Çiftçi in attack, despite the fact the Turk is yet to score since arriving from Ankaragücü in January.

St Mirren team news

Connor Ronan is the visitor’s main man having scored eight times during his lone spell from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

With Charlie Dunne injured, Joe Shaughnessy and Connor McCarthy will be joined by Marcus Fraser at the back again.
