Can Motherwell spark their season into life?

On Wednesday night, early goals from Kevin van Veen and Max Johnston saw the Well beat St Mirren 2-1 at Fir Park.

This was the Steelmen’s first victory since 29 October, with manager Stevie Hammell having been sacked following last weekend’s Scottish Cup exit at the hands of Raith.

That mid-week victory lifted Motherwell up to ninth, and was the perfect start for interim manager Stuart Kettlewell.

So now, can the Well claim back-to-back Premiership wins for the first time since August?

That certainly won’t be easy, with Heart of Midlothian tuning up in North Lanarkshire in confident mood.

In the Premiership, Robbie Neilson’s team have won eight of their last 14 fixtures, only losing to the Old Firm clubs since 15 October.

A fortnight ago, Hearts came from behind to beat Dundee United at Tynecastle, with Humphrys completing the 3-1 victory by scoring from inside his own half.

That leaves Hearts third, seven points clear Livingston, on course for another season of guarantee UEFA group stage football.

Will the away side be too strong at Fir Park?
