Tottenham vs Everton: Recommended bets

With a new season, comes renewed hope for both Tottenham and Everton fans around the world.

Both sets of fans have had their fair share of ups and downs over the past few years, but this season feels a little bit different, especially for Everton.

For this game, however, it is Tottenham who go into the clash as the favourites.

They’re priced at 4/5 to win the game.

Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton are priced at 10/3 to win.

A draw is priced at 13/5 and is actually our pick for this game.

Everton have made a plethora of signings in the past week, signing Brazilian midfielder Allan, James Rodriguez and Abdoulaye Doucouré, transforming their midfield.

As a result, they certainly have a better chance than their odds make out.

However, the Toffees are often slow starters and have struggled away from home for a number of years.

As a result, we think this could actually be a close affair, and a draw would be our best bet for the result market.

If you want to go one further, a draw and both teams to score is priced at 15/4.

A 1-1 scoreline, as we predict, is priced at 13/2.

Moving onto the goalscorer market, Harry Kane unexpectedly leads the way.

He’s the favourite to score first at 7/2, followed by Son Heung-min at 11/2.

Everton’s most likely candidate to score is Richarlison at 7/1, but our pick of the bunch is Harry Kane despite his odds.

The Englishman has a knack for scoring against Everton and will want to get his campaign off on the right foot.

Tottenham vs Everton: Match preview

Starting with Tottenham, there is a little bit of optimism going into this season.

After such an unstable campaign last season, Jose Mourinho is looking to nail down his tactics and start pushing Spurs in the right direction.

Both of his signings in the transfer window will go a long way to achieving that.

Pierre-Emile Højbjerg may not be the glamour signing some Spurs fans will have hoped for, but his impact could actually be astronomical.

While as a player on his own, he is just a solid enough option, his attributes will allow other midfield players much more freedom than they were previously.

Players like Giovani Lo Celso and even Tanguy Ndombele will finally be able to play in roles that suit them, rather than shoehorned into deeper roles.

Matt Doherty’s signing is also key.

Right-back has been a problem position for Spurs for a little while, with Serge Aurier hardly convincing.

Doherty provides not only impressive defensive attributes, but he is fearsome in attack and will no doubt contribute going forward.

While there could be a few more signings before the deadline, the players that Spurs have brought in mean Jose Mourinho can finally implement his tactics properly.

Only time will tell whether those tactics are good enough to bridge the gap to the elite teams of the Premier League.

New hope for Everton Football Club

If there’s a bit of optimism on the side of Tottenham, there’s a boatload at Goodison Park.

The Toffees have been buoyed by the signings of Allan, James Rodriguez and Abdoulaye Doucouré, completely revamping their midfield.

Central midfield has been a problem position for Everton, with Jean-Philippe Gbamin a long-term absentee and both Andre Gomes and Tom Davies underperforming.

Doucoure and Allan will add both energy and ability to that area, allowing more creative players like James Rodriguez and Richarlison to shine.

The signing of Rodriguez should also not be understated, with Everton lacking genuine top-tier talent for some time now.

James brings with him experience at the very highest level, creativity of the highest level and someone to excite fans.

Couple that with a full season under world-class manager Carlo Ancelotti and signs are looking very positive.

Only time will tell if Everton are capable of breaking the status quo towards the top of the Premier League this season, but it’s shaping up to be a very exciting campaign.

Tottenham team news vs Everton

Harry Winks was forced to withdraw from the England national team due to injury and as a result, is a doubt for this game.

Apart from that, Tottenham have no other injuries to contend with.

Everton team news vs Tottenham

Everton suffered a big blow in the form of a Mason Holgate injury in their pre-season clash with Preston so he’s a doubt for this game.

As a result, Yerry Mina and Michael Keane are likely to start at the back.

Other than that, Jean-Philippe Gbamin’s long-term injury is Ancelotti’s only other problem.

New signings Allan and Doucoure could be thrust into the limelight, though we predict James Rodriguez will be eased into the Premier League with a sub appearance.
