Why Fred is missing from Manchester United’s squad for USA tour

The Red Devils didn’t name the Brazilian among their ranks for the trip stateside

Manchester United midfielder Fred has missed jetting off to the USA with his teammates in order to ‘deal with a personal issue, but he is expected to join up with the rest of the squad shortly’, it has been confirmed.

The Red Devils have announced their squad for the upcoming tour of the USA, and fans were quick to notice the absence of the Brazilian from those listed.

However, the club have assured fans that his absence is not to do with a potential impending transfer away from Old Trafford, with the reason instead to deal with a personal matter.

It comes amid increased speculation that he could depart with the Brazilian out of contract next summer and potentially available on the cheap.

Fred’s future at Old Trafford looks bleak, with the former Shakhtar man having fallen out of favour and having started just two Premier League games since March’s 7-0 defeat to Liverpool.

He was strongly linked with a move to Fulham earlier in the summer, and Cottagers boss Marco Silva was spotted having a one-on-one chat with the Brazilian when the two sides met on the final day of the season.

Eric Bailly has also been left out of the squad as the Ivorian looks to complete a move away having spent last season on loan at Olympique Marseille, while shock temporary signing Jonny Evans is another that hasn’t been included on the trip stateside.

New signing Andre Onana is expected to join his new teammates when he is formally made a Manchester United player in the coming days, and could make his debut against Arsenal on July 22nd.

After the game against the Gunners, they face Wrexham, Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund.
