Watch: Lionel Messi bags a brace, including overhead kick, in PSG rout

The Argentine was in top form on Saturday night

Lionel Messi and Neymar stole the headlines this evening, as Paris Saint-Germain kicked the defence of the club’s Ligue 1 title into gear in style.

The capital giants were back in action a short time ago.

After making short work of Nantes in the Trophee des Champions showpiece last weekend, Christophe Galtier’s men turned their attentions towards matters in the league, in a meeting with Clermont.

And, this time round, PSG looked even more impressive.

A scintillating attacking display ultimately gave rise to a 5-0 rout on the part of the evening’s visitors.

Neymar proved the star of the show during the early exchanges, opening the scoring, before teeing up a further pair of goals with time to spare before the interval:

The 2nd-half, though, proved the Messi show.

After being laid on by that man Neymar for his first of the night ten minutes from time, the Argentine saved not only his best, but the evening’s best, for last...

With 86 minutes on the clock, the 7-time Ballon d’Or winner latched onto an inch-perfect through ball courtesy of compatriot Leandro Paredes, controlling with his chest inside the Clermont penalty area, before directing a sumptuous overhead finish beyond the clutches of Mory Diaw and home.
