The latest on Arsenal’s search for a new midfielder

Arsenal lost two of their key midfielders to injury recently.

Both Mohamed Elneny and Thomas Partey are out of action and will miss the Gunners’ clash with Aston Villa on Wednesday.

It was reported on Tuesday that Partey is almost certainly out for at least the next couple of games, but could be back after that (if early indications are correct).

Now, an insight into how Arsenal have been trying to strengthen their midfield has been provided on Wednesday.

First up, it is claimed by Goal Brazil that Arsenal are looking for a midfielder in the final days of the transfer window and are willing to ‘invest in the search for a reinforcement’.

The same report adds that Arsenal have presented a proposal of £20m to Palmeiras to sign midfielder Danilo. The offer was delivered on Tuesday, however, the trend is for the proposal to be rejected.

And finally, though not named specifically, 101 covered a report earlier today which claims Leicester have received a £19m bid from a mystery club for Gunner target, Youri Tielemans.
