How Manchester City’s record-breaking deal for Joško Gvardiol compares to other defender moves

Manchester City have agreed a deal to sign Joško Gvardiol in a record-breaking deal with RB Leipzig.

The defender underwent the first part of his medical with the Premier League champions on Wednesday, as per Fabrizio Romano.

A fee between the two clubs has been agreed and personal terms have been agreed for over a month.

Gvardiol becomes the world’s most expensive defender

LVZ report that Gvardiol’s move to Manchester City will exceed €100 million.

City will initially pay less than that but are eventually expected to clear that hurdle through easily-achievable add-ons.

The deal will make the Croatian the most expensive defender in world football.

It will surpass Harry Maguire’s move to Manchester United back in 2019.

Joško Gvardiol - €100m+

Harry Maguire - €87m
