Meanwhile, it is added that Chelsea accelerated talks over a deal for the 21-year-old on Thursday.
The Blues are understood to have offered his €127 million to get him out of Benfica.
This would break the record paid for a player by a British club, surpassing Man City’s £100 million deal for Jack Grealish.
Benfica are reluctant to lose him but will face no choice if Chelsea offer to pay his release clause.
His former club River Plate will benefit from the sale too as they are set to receive €31.75 million from the deal.
