Revealed: How Manchester United’s transfer budget compares to other top clubs

An insight into Manchester United’s summer transfer budget has been provided on Monday.

Manchester United have, of course, been one of the sides linked with the most players during the current window.

This comes with the arrival of a new manager, which always sees a rise in links, as well as the fact that Manchester United had a dismal 2021/22 and clearly need to improve their squad in several areas.

So far, the Red Devils have brought in three new names to the first-team this summer. First up, the Manchester outfit signed Tyrell Malacia from Feyenoord on a four-year deal.

United are understood to have paid an initial £13m for the left-back, with a further £1.7m payable in add-ons.

Manchester United also secured the services of Christian Eriksen on a free transfer following the expiration of his contract with Brentford.

Then, on Saturday, Manchester United’s signing of Lisandro Martinez was made official. The move sees Manchester United pay an initial £49m for the Argentine, but also includes £8.5m in add-ons and £2.2m in solidarity payments to Martinez’s former clubs.

But can they afford to continue spending this month? Well, one journalist has provided an insight into United’s financial situation recently.

According to Jacques Talbot, Manchester United have a ‘competitive’ transfer budget that is able to rival ‘all the other top European clubs’:

“Man United told me they have a transfer budget competitive with all the other top European clubs, which means just limiting themselves to FFP,” said Talbot.
