Premier League giants Manchester City have, on Thursday, announced the latest addition to Pep Guardiola’s squad.
The newest addition to the Sky Blues’ ranks? Jeremy Doku.
For those not familiar with his name, wide-man Doku has been hotly tipped to take his talents to Manchester for several weeks now.
This comes after Riyad Mahrez’s decision to depart for the Saudi Pro League forced the powers that be at The Etihad back into the market for reinforcements on the flanks.
Doku, a 21-year-old Belgian international, was in turn identified as a leading target.
Stade Rennais, for their part, made clear that the club’s crown jewel would not be allowed to depart on the cheap, with lengthy negotiations between the Ligue 1 outfit and City having therefore ensued.
In the end, though, as so often proves the case, Guardiola got his man, with an official announcement across the English champions’ social media platforms on Thursday having confirmed that:
‘Manchester City are delighted to confirm the signing of Jeremy Doku from Stade Rennais on a five-year deal.’
Doku, it is understood, has set Man City back a fee with the potential to rise to €60 million.
The 16-time capped international joins Mateo Kovacic and Josko Gvardiol as summer additions to Pep Guardiola’s treble-winning squad.
