Premier League giants Manchester United have lodged an improved offer for the club’s primary attacking target, according to reports.
The player in question? Rasmus Hojlund.
For those not familiar with his talents, frontman Hojlund is fresh off something of a breakout campaign.
Across stints in Italy and Austria, the 20-year-old took to the pitch on 42 occasions, notching an eye-catching 23 direct goal contributions along the way.
It was his exploits on the international stage, though, which saw clubs across the continent truly begin to stand up and take notice.
This came as, back in March, Hojlund took full advantage of his first competitive start for Denmark by way of a hat-trick versus Finland.
Not only that, but he followed up with a further brace against Kazakhstan, before bagging his country’s only goal en route to a 1-1 stalemate with Slovenia last month.
On the lookout for an answer to their long-term woes at centre-forward, it has therefore come as little surprise to hear of the aforementioned Manchester United being tipped as a potential landing spot for Hojlund this summer.
And, if the latest word stemming from the media on Friday is anything to go by, then the Red Devils, it would appear, are ready to go all out to bring the youngster to Old Trafford.
As revealed by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the powers that be on the red half of Manchester have ‘improved their bid’ to Atalanta.
After seeing an opening offer rejected by La Dea, United, it is understood, have returned with a proposal totalling in excess of €60 million.
Negotiations, in turn, remain ongoing between the two clubs, with Hojlund, for this part, having made crystal clear to Atalanta that his desire is to make the move to the Theatre of Dreams.
