Kai Havertz replacement? Chelsea keen on Bundesliga playmaker

Chelsea have been linked with a Bundesliga midfielder over the weekend.

According to a report from Spanish outlet Fichajes, Chelsea are reportedly keen on signing Bayer Leverkusen playmaker Florian Wirtz during the summer transfer window.

Chelsea sold Kai Havertz to Arsenal recently for around £65m and now look as though they could replace him with Wirtz.

The 20-year-old has earned comparisons to the now Arsenal man during his short career, partly due to their career paths.

Havertz was sold to Chelsea from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2020 and Wirtz was bought by the German outfit in the same year.

Like Havertz, Wirtz is a natural attacking midfielder who can play as a no.10, up front or out wide.

Wirtz missed a lot of the 2022/23 campaign due to injury, but he still scored one and assisted six in 17 Bundesliga outings when he returned from his cruciate ligament rupture. In comparison, Havertz netted seven and assisted one in 35 Premier League ties last term.
