The Blues spent around £600m across the 2023 winter window and the 2022 summer window.

Their big spending was not rewarded on the pitch, though, as they finished 12th in the Premier League and underperformed in cup competitions.

Mauricio Pochettino has now been brought in to revitalise the squad but with the Argentine looking to put his own touch on the team, player sales were needed in order to comply with FFP.

And whilst the transfer window has just officially opened, the west Londoners have been busy on the outgoings front.

The latest name to leave Stamford Bridge was Ruben Loftus-Cheek. AC Milan confirmed the signing of Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea on a four-year contract on Friday. The Blues will receive an initial £14million for the midfielder, who joined the club as an eight-year-old before progressing through the academy, with a further £3m in add-ons.

The departure takes Chelsea’s total sales for the summer towards the £140million mark after Kalidou Koulibaly, Kai Havertz, Edouard Mendy and Mateo Kovacic were also allowed to leave.
